Bonnie and the Aztecs are a pop/alt-rock band created in the imagination of Dylan Grundy. Their manager brought the five members together in Camden Town in 2015. The group was formed from the surviving members of the British indie band The Reverbs and the keyboard talent of Keith Daniels (their one American member). They are fronted by the young poetess Bonnie Whitmore.
Their sound combines the American new-wave aesthetics of Blondie, the up-beat energy and wry wit of The Specials with the attitude and lyrical flair of bands like Blur and Pulp in their Britpop heyday. Their debut album Bonnie Lass is full of urban vistas and playful rebellion, as much about street-level story telling as it is about dance-floor drama.
